The Director Writes... We're spring ready at
Faiths4Change and excited by the coming growing season and warming of the
fertile earth as the light increases, recognised
and celebrated in the festivals of Candlemas, Imbolc & Holi. Our Team are already out & about offering one to one
& training support to people of faith and goodwill, enabling them
to work in partnership to transform their local environments.
Our Project Officers are making peace lanterns with people of
different faiths in Manchester, engaging volunteers from the
Myerscough College supported Return to Work
programme to design the canal side gardens with
residents in Burnley, supporting the
greening of the Synagogue grounds in Liverpool and developing art
& environment workshops with the Justice & Peace team in Lancaster
- diverse projects that reflect the diverse faiths, cultures and neighbourhoods in England's North West. Recognising that we have a common goal -
caring for the world & all of it's
inhabitants - and demonstrating this in our own ways
through small practical actions that enable people to work together,
gain skills and develop sustainable communities with relationships
that reach across and beyond borders.

Meanwhile volunteers from the Al Hidayah Centre, owned by Jamea Mosque, have been busy improving their own gardens. The building is a former pub and the gardens were very overgrown following the years of neglect. Paving is being put back down, a barbeque and seating installed and planting areas created to turn the disused space into a valuable asset for the local community. The project is well underway with planting due to take place in early spring when weather conditions improve. A formal opening will then be held. These projects have both received funding and support from
Faiths4change. To find out
how to get advice about developing your own project, please get in touch
with Tom in our Merseyside It has been an exciting time
supporting the development of the Women in Faith Group (WING). The group came about from suggestions made by the
Merseyside Council of Faiths, to support women in starting a group to
encourage more women to get involved in interfaith activities. WING have
been working with Faiths4Change to introduce environmental issues onto the
groups agenda, gaining insights and tips from each others faith in caring
for the planet. Ladies at the Contact Helen | ||||||||||||||||
