2012
May
Every Thursday in May 1-3pm Operation Grassroots - Asda, Burnley
Faiths4Change is involved in a new multiagency partnership project branded ‘Operation Grassroots’. It's taking place in the Daneshouse with Stoneyholme Ward. It has been recognised that because of the current financial cutbacks many of our former partners are no longer here to assist and support us in forging links to access our local communities. With this in mind it was decided that we would raise our profile and seek out ways to get into the heart and grassroots of the community.
Representatives from various agencies including the Fire Service, Police, Street Scene officers, Help Direct, Domestic Violence, Faiths4Change, the Women’s Centre, Building Bridges in Burnley will offer advice and information and reassurance to residents that their local services are working together to make their community a safer place to live in.
The very first week’s surgery of Operation Grassroots was launched by Mayor and Mayoress on the 3rd May.
The contact at Asda is Michelle Hall (Community rep for Asda).

29th June, Stockport - Neighbourhoods NW Policy Forum
HOW DO WE KEEP THE PARTY GOING ONCE THE MUSIC'S STOPPED?
Last year the country went crazy for cupcakes, bunting and flags to celebrate the royal wedding.
This year we've got even more reasons to celebrate with the Jubilee and the Olympics. By the time this event takes place I'm sure everyone will have a defined role to organise your street events - some will be picking out quick and easy street food recipes, others are ensuring that the road closure runs smoothly and the risk assessments are in place.
But who is looking to the future?
Join Neighbourhoods NW and Warrington Voluntary Action and together we will explore your stories, experiences and ideas to build upon the community events energy and commitment from the volunteers to create long term, sustaining change for your neighbourhoods.
This event is free for members of Neighbourhoods NW: £50 for non members: EARLY BIRD RATE: £25, BOOK BEFORE 30TH MAY
