Green Up Northwood
Over the last year we have worked with residents in Northwood, Kirkby, to create positive community action around reducing waste. Alongside work with individual residents, community groups and schools, we established a monthly Pop Up Hub event at Northwood Community Centre. Each event centred on a Pop Up Clothes Boutique where people can donate unwanted clothes, books and toys, and take home some they love, all absolutely free! At the events we also provided access to sewing machines in our Repair Clinic, volunteer support to mend clothes and craft activities for kids and adults. We have worked with our Men Can Cook group to run a Community Cafe providing a delicious home-cooked lunch for just a £1.
We're absolutely delighted that the community have decided to continue running the monthly Pop Up Hub and these will continue as soon as possible.
The project was part of Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority's Community Fund 19/20. We created our own recycling guide made by and for Northwood residents that you can see below or on our project facebook group which has been renamed Make. Do. Mend. Knowsley
