Roots In The City
Our usual group activity is currently reduced due to Covid 19. As of Spring 2021 we are beginning to run small groups and our courses with Myerscough College again in line with restrictions. We continue to maintain the garden to provide fresh food for Micah's foodbank.
About Roots In The City
Roots In The City activity includes:
Clearing, developing and growing garden space
Offering gentle, therapeutic outdoor activity for participants that increases physical and mental wellbeing
Offering City & Guilds horticulture qualifications through Myerscough college
Running a Community Social Food Market with support from Micah foodbank
Cooking nutritious and tasty lunches
Creating community space with art and mindfulness activities
Across Roots In the City activity, and across all Faiths4Change projects, we work to create welcoming, safe spaces where people can learn, share and connect with others and with the environment around them.

Gill Reeve volunteered with us as part of her William Temple scholar studies. Gill wrote a wonderful blog post about the community growing at St.Michael's In The City that you can find here:
Do not despise the day of small things

“What I get out in the garden it's better than any tablets a doctor can give you – it’s organic therapy.”
“I honestly do think the garden has been a positive thing for me, it’s let me contribute to something meaningful and given me something to focus on outside of my own head.”

Events & Classes
Please note, as lockdown lifts and as restrictions allow we are welcoming very small groups to take part in gardening with Faiths4Change as well as accredited learning with Myerscough College. This will be in line with restrictions and guidance.
