The Cool Places of Worship action strand is open to all places of worship and faith communities; it is a multi-faith project where people of different faiths work together as one to support, inspire, share and act to support the delivery of Cool 2 by reducing their carbon footprint and caring for our planet. All have an equal voice, are supported to be active, and engage in ways that work for them.
We are currently working with 14 core places of worship which can be seen as blue dots in the map above. The orange dots represent engaged places of worship.
Places of Worship involved in the project identify an area of need in which they need support, or extra information, and come together with members of the group find a way forward. This can be 1:1 support or advice, or by bringing people together for an information session. This is shared with others via monthly Zoom meetings, or in the newsletters.
A strength of becoming involved with the group is the shared knowledge and experience that can support you and your place of worship to reduce your carbon footprint.
These actions contribute to their carbon reduction plan as well as providing learning points, giving ideas for changes they can make and informing their next steps towards becoming a net zero carbon place of worship.
